Building Leadership Skills: The Importance of Leader's Footprints
Synopsis:
A two-session skills-building program for experienced diversity professionals, midlevel managers, and supervisors who wish to advance and improve their strategic leadership skills. Sessions include lectures, discussions, small group exercises and participation in a unique on-the-job project.

Session 1: Using the 7Keys 2Success Scorecard ®, participants learn
to evaluate the effectiveness of their current diversity competencies
and uncover factors that facilitate and factors that hinder
          their progress.

Participants outline a plan to improve their core  leadership skills and
develop an on-the- job project that is to be completed before Session
2 begins. Assignments include reading 7Keys 2Success: Unlocking
          the Passion for Diversity
and completing one to two activities from a list
          of suggested development steps.

Session 2: Workshop members discuss what they learned from their
Session 1 project. Using information from the class discussion and data
from the Scorecard assessment, participants develop a more in-depth and           advanced personalized leadership plan with objectives and measurable
          standards.

As a post-workshop assignment to help facilitate commitment to continued improvement, participants are asked to consider what it means to make “leadership footprints” and to ask themselves questions  like “What are my ideas about leadership?” “What are my leadership footprints?” “Am I able to ‘walk the talk‘?” “What do I need to do to get better?”

Outcome: Participants gain a more sophisticated and in-depth understanding of the complex issues that today’s leaders face, and learn the requirements for moving from a diverse to an inclusive organization.
